thank you so much to everyone who voted!
i loved reading them all!
on to the story
(can't have a post without a story :)
whenever i get to choose new glasses it's always a little daunting...
like, there are just so many choices!
seriously, what i wouldn't give to just go back to the days when there were only two choices:
john lennon or sally jessie
one guess which i chose
i chose both!
(insert photos here if i can find them)
so this time when i had the chance to choose new glasses
i decided to take it to the streets!
& the streets for me is facebook...
it's where all of my people are
(i do have real live people in real life, too
& they talk to me & are real, for real.
just didn't want you to worry about me.
although after that sentence, you probably are)
we get our glasses from zenni.com
they are unbelievably inexpensive.
i wanted to say cheap but that would imply that they fall apart
& for us so far they haven't.
on the other hand the ralph laurens that Q had are a twisted mangled mess
& the coach's that i used to have snapped in half
(courtesy of miss m being 'fashionable' in them one too many times)...
you may say this is just the nature of kids & glasses
& you would be right
but for me spending $12 (truth) on glasses that work exactly the same as $235's?
it takes me about minus 3 seconds to decide...
given zenni's super cool 'compare' option & access to photoshop
can you blame me for what happened next?
(see photo at top)
man i love that 'try on' mode...
back to facebook...
it was so fun to see what my friends & family thought about the different styles!
there was a pretty clear winner
but i'm not going to tell you quite yet
because i want you to hang out with me longer
(i really do have real life friends)
if you are in a hurry & need to know
(& you're the type who reads the last page first ala billy crystal in 'when harry met sally')
go ahead & scroll down
but if you've got a minute
i have compiled some very interesting non scientific data...
if you have known me longer than 5 paragraphs
you know that just putting a 'this style won' photo up was not an option
or even (God forbid) just saying '# whatever took the prize' with no picture
we need to drag it out & look at it from every angle
& so with no further ado
here are the results of my tally
(man, i love to tally!)
all of my friends have great style
& i hope they all enjoy what they wear.
however some of my friends have style with a capital Tim Gunn...
so for my friends who always know a gucci from a chanel,
what a ferragamo is & how to correctly pronounce hermes
their overwhelming choice was c...
i'm keeping it in mind, ladies
& if i go with it you better believe i'm going to make it work...
does everyone have as many teacher friends as i do?
i have no idea but i have a lot.
plus i am married to one & the daughter of two
& i love school supplies
so there you go!
by more than twice the votes the teachers went with h.
(i included my homeschooling friends in this, too)
A+ for voting, teachers, A+!
ps. if barack or mitt would like some help with the teacher vote, i might be available...
i also have lots & lots of artsy friends
which i suppose makes sense as i have been known to dabble :)
the artists went for c
they really really went to for c
the artists, they liked c
did i mention c?
thanks, art friends, i love your work!
i broke this one up by people who have known me since
i was wearing the john lennons & sally jessies...
they were pretty excited about h
& as i tallied i really just wanted to hug them all
not because i loved their vote
(though maybe i do...suspense!)
but because of those great memories that come even with just seeing their names <3
thanks, you guys, love you!
apparently i don't have very many friends under 30 (who voted)
6 actually out of 84 comments.
hmmmm, i think i'm getting older...
the little ones voted for a
i love that they preferred the one that no other group did!
this one was all over the board
though i guess that makes sense seeing as how
my family is made up of artists & teachers & fashionistas & people under 30
this is just a shout out to two people who voted for the one style that i was most excited about...
my taste might be questionable though because last time i chose glasses with no input from anyone a very fashioable friend said
'are those new glasses? they're....interesting'
& truth be told, i wore that like a badge of honor for a while
'i don't need the approval of fashion!'
you can see i have changed my mind now...
but i still love this style
& i love you, theresa & merabeth, for voting for it :)
so h it is, by just a little bit over g
i haven't had h's before.
i had some that i thought were similar to them when i ordered but when i got them they were actually reading glasses, so narrow!
but do you think i ordered another pair?
no. no i didn't.
man, i think the voting is the way to go...
i think i will order h's & one other...
it's between c (the fashionista & artist vote)
& d, the one with the least votes.
will i ever learn?
thanks again so much, fb friends!
it was so fun to see your votes!
go glasses, 2012!
